Many amazing things have happened to me since February 4, 2008; it was a day that changed my life forever. Today I am a father of two amazing boys, Ricky and Carson, whom I want to set a great example for. Morrissey also works with other organizations like New Beginning Recovery that provide recovery services for people transitioning out of inpatient treatment facilities.

Clients are provided tools to maintain financial responsibility in society by allowing them to work, pay their own way, as well as learning to set and maintain a budget. I am giving back to my community by working at New Beginnings Recovery Homes for Men. Redemption House Foundation is our non-profit organization that fills a critical gap in providing short-term transitional care whose services can come at no cost to those in need.

February 4, 2008, I made a call to a drug dealer; I was hopeless and wanted to die. I bought a large quantity of drugs and the plan was to kill myself. The US has reached a record height for overdoses across all states. Despite increased federal funding for opioid-specific supports in recent years, the state of Illinois has seen an increased 16.2% in overdoses since 2020 according to the CDC. More so, both Cook and Kane Counties experienced an increase of DUI arrests since 2017 (7.3% increase in Cook and 15.8% in Kane). Now more than ever, there is a need for responsive programming, and funding to do build these programs.
